My latest poem- Unrequited Love

I have a Freakin EXAM n Still i'm wastin time.. - Mar. 26, 2006 at 12:14 AM

For all of u who know me, u'll remember tht i have a big problem turning down challenges.. So when a "dear" friend of mine wrote a good(actually, amazin, but whateva)poem..he had the gall to challenge me n state tht this was 1 genre i can't write in..considerin it's the genre of Romance, crappiness n sappiness... But i persisted n here is the fruit of my labour...
Mind you, it has no resemblance to my life whatsoever n tht's why it took me quite some time to put myself in the situation...

Dedicated to all ppl who've suffered pangs of unrequited love...

Why do revelations of this magnitude,
occur on such ordinary days?
How do i calm this internal feud,
That leaves my mind in a daze?

I promised myself i wouldn't let this happen
To me, of all the people.
But in matters of heart, no 1 can win,
You're bound to get a raw deal.

It's not true when people say,
That a boy and girl can't be best friends,
But there's a heavy price to pay,
If you're path- in love, ends.

You're scared to give love a chance
And risk friendship for something more,
Everything in life seems to go askance
Your very beliefs are shaken to the core.

It's not easy to love someone
And watch them find love with another,
And when their heart's broken,
Help put the pieces back together.

All you get in return is gratitude
And the title of "Best Friend",
And details of every interlude
They've had with their Boy/Girl Friend.

If they claim to be so close to you,
How do they not see your pain?
And behave as if they don't have a clue,
Making you doubt if you're sane.

To smile when you're being killed inside,
To die a thousand deaths would be better
Than every emotion having to hide
And dragging along each day bitter.

Hate seems preferable to love...almost,
At least your heart's in a better state.
But who can convince a heart that's lost
To deal with this treacherous blow of fate?

Constructive criticism will be appreciated, especially from my old journalism group..whaddaya think guys?? Are my poetry skills still existent or have they gone rusty? Mind you, this is by no means my best work, da whole journalism lot of *** have seen much better from me, (remember the angsty ones?) Ppl wish me luck..now i need to go finish my 15chapters of physics.

PS Poem was written on 14th nov'05 but i felt it was kinda incomplete so it was finished on 11th feb'06

CHRISTMAS

Old poem from my journalism class days...i was 14 when i wrote it..

Let the bells ring out loud and clear,
Let every corner light up with cheer.
It’s time for the Christmas magic to start-
A new ray of hope pervades every heart.

The yule log, holly and mistletoe
No one’s spirits can remain low.
When the snowflakes begin to fall,
The spirit of Christmas touches all.

Start mending all of your rifts,
It’s time for peace and Christmas gifts.
Don’t forget Santa, sweet and noble.
At spreading happiness, your efforts double.

Remember to decorate the Christmas tree,
Your reward will be the smiles you see.
Don’t count pennies or care about the bill,
Don’t forget the angels, stars or tinsel.

And when Christmas is gone and past,
Sit back with a mug of cocoa in hand-
To these precious memories hold fast,
For ‘tis love that rules the land.
